Boat runs into Cedar Point breakwall
Three people suffered critical injuries and five others were wounded in a boating accident at Cedar Point's breakwall late Tuesday night.
According to reports released from the Sandusky Fire Department, a distress call was made at about 11:30 p.m. from a marine radio of a boat that had hit Cedar Point's breakwall. Sandusky police and fire, along with the Coast Guard and Cedar Point police responded to the scene.
One by one, rescue workers carefully guided limp, bloodied and bruised people from the fireboat into ambulances waiting on the side of the dock. The two helicopters landed within 10 minutes of each other. Five rescue workers worked feverishly to prepare one of the critically injured for transport about three feet from the helicopter.
