Cedar Point wins 11th consecutive "Best Park" award

SANDUSKY, Ohio – When it comes to the best in world-class thrills and fun-filled family entertainment, nobody does it better than Cedar Point amusement park/resort. The popular family vacation destination earned the coveted designation as the “Best Amusement Park in the World” in Amusement Today’s annual Golden Ticket Awards. Cedar Point took home the top award for a record 11th consecutive year.
The Golden Ticket Awards are some of the most prestigious awards in the amusement industry. They are presented annually to the “best of the best” in the amusement industry and are calculated from an international poll conducted by Amusement Today, an Arlington, Texas-based publication that covers amusement and waterpark news and trends. Surveys were sent to a database of experienced and well-traveled amusement park fans around the world – in balanced geographical regions, asking them to rate the “best” in 24 categories, such as amusement parks, roller coasters, food, waterparks and more.
“This is truly an honor,” said John Hildebrandt, vice president and general manager of Cedar Point. “To be thought of as the best amusement park in the world by our peers and guests is really a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire staff to make sure that each and every guest’s visit is a memorable and enjoyable one.”
Cedar Point also landed five of its legendary roller coasters in the “Top 25 Steel Roller Coasters in the World” category. The ultra-popular Millennium Force came in at the No. 2 spot, while the Magnum XL-200 (No. 7), Top Thrill Dragster (No. 9), Maverick (No. 12) and Raptor (No. 22) rounded out the list for Cedar Point. Since it was introduced in 2000, Millennium Force has always been ranked first or second in the poll.
The park’s popular Castaway Bay waterpark also earned a Top 5 spot for “Best Indoor Waterpark” while HalloWeekends, Cedar Point’s friendly and frightening fall frightfest, received a Top 5 billing in the “Best Halloween Event” category.
Cedar Point will be open to the public on Sunday, Sept. 7. On that day, the park will also host its first-ever Season Passholder Appreciation Day. The park will then celebrate its 12th annual HalloWeekends event on Friday nights, Saturdays and Sundays, Sept. 12 through Nov. 2.
